The Quad Cities' metropolitan area is located in eastern Iowa and western Illinois along the Mississippi River, approximately 165 miles west of Chicago and midway between Minneapolis to the north and St. Louis to the south. The Quad Cities has a 300-mile market of 37.4 million people. This is the largest 300-mile market west of Chicago and constitutes almost 13 percent of our nation's population.

The total population of the Quad Cities' area is 376,019, with 149,726 total households. The projected 2010 population for the area is 382,142. The median age of the four-county area is 37.7 years.

The total sales in the Quad Cities' area is $4.936 billion, and the total effective buying power of the area exceeds $6 billion. Over 50 percent of the households have an effective buying income (EBI) of more than $35,000, and 30.9 percent of Quad Cities' housholds has an EBI of over $50,000.

The Quad Cities is served by 27 high schools, 26 private and parochial schools, two community colleges and eight trade and technical schools, among others. The University of Iowa is only 50 miles from the Quad Cities, and the University of Illinois is 168 miles away.
